Commercial Space Planning and Retail Optimization Specialist

The Commercial Space Planning and Retail Optimization Specialist is responsible for the design, maintenance, and evolution of store layouts to optimize customer experience, space profitability, and product category performance.
Using computer-aided design (CAD) tools, this individual develops and maintains store layout plans to support store openings, renovations, product transitions, and commercial initiatives. This individual designs customer journeys and showroom configurations that promote strategic product presentation and greater commercial effectiveness.
They work closely with the Marketing, Operations, Purchasing, and Product Development teams to ensure that product selection and in-store placement reflect business priorities, market trends, and sales objectives.
This individual is also responsible for analyzing category and retail space performance to identify opportunities to optimize product assortment, merchandising, and the use of retail space. They also manage the lifecycle of in-store displays and demonstrators, including replacement planning, product transitions, and the coordination of required installations to maintain consistent presentation standards across the entire store network.
Additional responsibilities include planning budgets related to store layout projects, coordinating rollouts with stores, suppliers, contractors, and installation teams, developing implementation standards, and monitoring performance indicators associated with implemented initiatives.
Required Qualifications- University or college degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Merchandising, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial space planning, space planning, merchandising, retail planning, or the coordination of retail-related projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent computer-aided design (CAD) software. Experience with planogramming or space-planning software is considered an asset.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including Purchasing, Operations, Marketing, and external suppliers.
- Strong understanding of commercial space planning principles, retail space optimization, and the in-store customer experience.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to develop communication tools, implementation standards, and documentation for a store network.
- Strong attention to detail, autonomy, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
