Securiguard is seeking passionate and experienced individuals to join our team as Asset Protection Security Guards. Join us in this elite role where your vigilance and dedication contribute to the overall safety and success of our retail partner.

Day to Day

As a Loss Prevention Security Guard at Securiguard, your role involves safeguarding the assets and minimizing losses for our retail client. You will conduct routine surveillance, identify and prevent theft, fraud, or other security breaches, patrol the premises, and interact with customers and employees to deter incidents while maintaining a high level of customer service. Your responsibilities include investigating suspicious activities, reviewing CCTV footage, and collaborating with law enforcement when necessary.

You will craft detailed incident reports and enforce security protocols, de-escalate conflicts, and, when needed, make lawful arrests to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.

What You Bring

Valid Security Guard License and First Aid/CPR

At least 1 year of security experience in a high-profile customer-focused environment such as retail/mall, government, or healthcare/respite shelters OR Police Foundation/Law Enforcement Diploma is an asset

Loss Prevention knowledge is an asset

Previous Use of Force training and arrest experience will be considered an asset

Ability to work at different sites across Ottawa, Ontario

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to prepare professional daily and/or incident security reports

Knowledge of Trespass to Property Act (TPA), Canada Criminal Code and 494(c)

Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills

Ability to conduct arrests in appropriate and sanctioned situations

Military/Police background/Law Enforcement background is an asset

Strong observational skills and situational awareness

Punctuality

Able to stand/patrol for up to 12 hours

Pay Rate : $23 to $27 per hour

Training

Completion of Use of Force Training and Lawful Subject Restraint, and Crisis Management training are requirements for this role, and require annual re-certification. Training is provided to new employees along with Securiguard University Orientations courses for skill development.
