Social Service Community Worker

Position: Social Service Community Worker Role
Drive positive change in the Cree community as a Social Service Worker, focusing on mental health and social issues.

Your role requires strong communication and collaboration skills.

The Community Worker will participate in identifying local needs and implementing various community action programs. A diploma in social work or a related specialization is required, along with an understanding of Cree culture. Your expertise in social issues, counseling, and crisis intervention will be crucial in delivering effective support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess community needs and engage in action program implementation

• Act as a key resource for community groups and initiatives

• Collaborate effectively with medical and social services staff

• Interview beneficiaries and develop helping relationships

• Navigate crisis situations with demonstrated professional judgment

Requirements:

• Diploma in social work techniques or relevant experience

• Strong grasp of Mental Health issues in the community

• Fluent in Cree and English, French language skills preferred

• Knowledge of Eeyou Pimaatsiiun healing practices is an asset

• Must be available for on-call support
