** How You Will Contribute:
*** Develop applications that enhance the capabilities of the Wave Router system/platform.
* Design and implement embedded, real-time software solutions for telecommunications systems.
* Write and test software code to ensure robust functionality.
* Support testing activities during the release cycle for delivered features.
* Collaborate with design teams to develop on-switch applications and OAM software features supporting Optical/Ethernet-based initiatives.
** The Must Haves:
*** Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Ability to contribute effectively to a team environment.
* Proficiency in embedded C programming.
** Nice to Haves:
*** Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Go, or BASH.
* Familiarity with datacom and telecom concepts including Ethernet, TCP/IP, MPLS, DWDM.
* Knowledge of real-time software/firmware development and Linux-based development environments.
* Exposure to CLI, SNMP, NETCONF, REST, gRPC protocols.
* Hands-on experience with design and development tools such as Git, Eclipse, JIRA, Confluence, GDB, Yocto.
* Familiarity with YANG modeling language and tool chains.
* Interest in automation and testing practices.
** Pay Range**:
The annual pay range for this position is $ 69, CADPay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
