Job Description:

DEFSEC Technologies is seeking a skilled Senior Software Test Engineer to join our LC4

ISR program. This role focuses on the verification and validation of software to ensure it functions as intended and integrates smoothly into the larger environment.

The Senior Software Test Engineer plays a critical role as part of the Engineering team responsible for the design, conduct, and reporting of IVVQ activities.

Please note that this role may involve significant office/lab work as well as working at client site(s).

Responsibilities:

Develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for WPF C# /.NET applications

Lead test strategy, test planning, and quality governance

Mentor and coach junior and mid‑level QA engineers

Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing

Develop and maintain automated test scripts using frameworks such as Squish, Selenium

Test ASP.NET, Web APIs, and .NET applications.

Validate business requirements, UI behavior. Analyze requirements and contribute to the development of traceability matrices.

Solid understanding of software testing methodologies

Work with System Engineers in shaping the ambiguous requirements and updating the requirement repositories like DOORS, ETM

Raise and track software defects using tools like EWM, ETM

Collaborate with developers to debug issues and verify fixes

Provide Test Reports and status updates on test activities

Deploy methodologies (including metrics), tools/platforms necessary for test activities

Observe test guidelines and company internal processes

Minimum Qualifications

Previous experience with:

Test Case development and execution; manual test experience is preferred

Requirements Analysis

Test Management Tools

Demonstrated capabilities:

Leading test teams and providing guidance to junior team members

Skilled communicator, both written and spoken

Possession of an active Canadian Secret security clearance

Ability to obtain Controlled Goods clearances.

At least ten (10) years demonstrated experience in IV&V or a related field.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, or other STEM‑related discipline from a recognized university.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience with test automation or test automation tools

Experience with Squish and Ansible test tools

Experience working with TAK integration is an asset

Demonstrated test experience in military Command and Control (C2) systems, and secure voice and data communication systems:

System of systems engineering and integration

Core network

Applications

Intelligence, Surveillance, Target acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR)

Experience handling and working on physical systems, products, or equipment

Executing Integration and/or leading Integration

Activities:

Developing an Integration Strategy/Plan

Monitoring the Integration Activity

Providing reports and status updates

Security, Performance, and Stability testing

Script and Simulation tools development and maintenance

Experience with RTM and DOORS is an asset
