Overview  Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery. We are the home of the global digital revolution. We are CNN. This role is for an iOS Software Engineer to join the CNN Mobile Engineering Team. The Engineer is an individual contributor, self-directed, able to work with minimal supervision and typically takes on difficult technical challenges. The Engineer contributes to technical direction, supporting Principal Engineers/Architects and Senior Engineers in defining technology strategy and implementation.

You will work in a fun, collaborative, and fast-paced environment, tackling new problems while delivering mobile experiences for CNN Digital audiences.
Your Role  Accountabilities include building intuitive, simple and elegantly designed mobile apps, providing support and development of software tools to extend and enhance core production pipelines, collaborating with Product, Design, Delivery, Editorial and Engineering to implement CNN Digital consumer experience solutions and apps, assisting with troubleshooting production problems, performing root cause analysis and debugging, maintaining existing production systems supporting CNN’s digital ecosystem, and ensuring software development follows industry best practices, including architecture, security, governance, coding standards, monitoring, logging, unit testing and service enablement.

The iOS Software Engineer contributes to mobile technology strategy, architecture, best practices, and selection of tools and technology stack across Android app platforms, supporting mobile backend APIs, mobile CI/CD tools, and testing automation, and ensures the technical execution and release of CNN’s mobile apps to end consumers. The role partners with Product, Design and Delivery Leaders to help teams deliver product initiatives and operational execution.
Responsibilities   Build intuitive, simple and elegantly designed mobile apps that people want to use.
Provide support and development of software tools and procedures to extend and enhance the core production pipeline.
Work with multiple departments, including Product, Design, Delivery, Editorial and Engineering to implement CNN Digital consumer experience solutions and apps.
Assist with troubleshooting production problems, root cause analysis, and debugging.
Develop and maintain existing production systems supporting CNN’s digital ecosystem.
Ensure software development follows industry best practices, policies and guidelines, aligned with CNN Digital strategy and standards for architecture, security, governance, coding, monitoring, logging, unit testing and service enablement.
Qualifications & Experience   Demonstrated advanced understanding of troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, application design, solution development, usability design, and implementation of projects for major business units or the enterprise.
Minimum 2 years in a professional development environment.
Strong foundation in programming fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms.
Ability to develop new and innovative applications as well as maintaining existing code.
Demonstrated full-mobile stack development experience with mobile native clients, SDKs, and APIs (Swift/Objective-C, SwiftUI, iOS platform).
Demonstrated expert knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, and architecture, specifically experience architecting performant, scalable, and secure mobile apps.
Hands-on experience with mobile Dev Ops CI/CD tools and implementing best practices, including automation of deployment, code signing, and automated tests.
Preferred familiarity with Git and Bitrise.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical cross-functional teams.
Experience building flexible software architectures to accommodate shifting business needs.
BS/MS in computer science (or equivalent).
Nice to Haves   Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as Amazon AWS.
General familiarity with database technologies (SQL/RDBMS, No
