Intermediate / Senior AS/ Developer – Bilingual English/French
Job Summary
We are looking for a hands on Intermediate or Senior AS/ Developer to support an active project involving IBM i / AS/ applications. The selected candidate will be responsible for analysis, development, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and production support of business critical applications.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, autonomous, bilingual in English and French, and comfortable working directly with business users, functional analysts, technical teams, and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
The AS/ Developer will be responsible for:
Developing, enhancing, maintaining, and supporting applications on the IBM i / AS/ platform.
Performing hands on development using technologies such as RPG, RPGLE, CL, SQL, DB2/, and related IBM i tools.
Analyzing business and technical requirements and translating them into reliable technical solutions.
Investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving application issues in development, testing, and production environments.
Performing impact analysis for requested changes and identifying risks, dependencies, and technical constraints.
Creating and modifying programs, reports, interfaces, batch jobs, and database objects.
Supporting system integration activities with internal and external applications.
Preparing technical specifications, unit test evidence, deployment instructions, and support documentation.
Participating in code reviews, quality assurance activities, and defect resolution.
Collaborating with project managers, business analysts, QA teams, infrastructure teams, and client stakeholders.
Communicating clearly in both English and French, verbally and in writing.
Required Qualifications
The candidate should have:
Hands on experience as an AS/ / IBM i Developer.
Experience with COBOL on AS/.
Banking experience is a string asset
Strong experience with RPG / RPGLE development.
Experience with CL programming.
Good knowledge of DB2/, SQL, physical files, logical files, and database concepts on IBM i.
Experience analyzing existing legacy code and making enhancements safely.
Ability to troubleshoot production issues and identify root causes.
Experience working in project delivery environments with deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Bilingual proficiency in English and French is required.
Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position due to the nature of the role requiring interaction with national and global clients.
