The role
As a Senior Backend Software Developer, you'll architect, design, build, deploy, operate and scale the backend platform that turns thousands of real-time video feeds into insights operators and engineers can act on immediately. You'll work closely with our Head of Engineering as well as our AI R&D team to architect the Operator Vision SaaS platform, harden the services, APIs and infrastructure.

What you'll do
- Participate in the platform's architecture definition, working closely with the Head of Engineering, and taking into consideration the tradeoffs that let us scale from pilot to full production.
- Design and implement the cloud-based backend platform — services, APIs and data pipelines — including auto-scaling and failover recovery capabilities that keep the platform available for live production lines.
- Contribute to building the infrastructure that ingests and processes thousands of real-time video streams, working closely with the AI R&D team.
- Contribute to defining and putting in place development conventions — code standards, testing practices, and how the team uses agentic coding tools to move faster without cutting corners.
- Contribute to building the CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices enabling the team to ship fast, safely and often.
- Contribute to operating the service — instrumenting logging, metrics and alerting, and taking part in incident response when things don't work as expected.
- Partner with product and AI R&D to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
What we're looking for
- Seasoned backend engineer with deep, demonstrated expertise in Python or another high-level backend language such as Go or Rust, and you're comfortable working across multiple languages and stacks as the problem demands.
- 7+ years of professional backend software development experience.
- Demonstrated expertise designing and shipping highly scalable, resilient and cost-effective cloud-based backend solutions in production, not just in theory.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and modern continuous deployment practices.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing REST APIs. GraphQL APIs is a nice to have.
- Experience with the stack we leverage in our platform, or equivalent:
- Python
- FastAPI, Strawberry
- SQLAlchemy
- Alembic
- Postgres
- Demonstrated experience working as part of a startup, owning outcomes end-to-end, moving fast with limited resources, and building scale before scale is guaranteed.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Git Hub Copilot to meaningfully accelerate development velocity.
- Strong instincts for data modeling and building systems that stay reliable under real-world production load.
- Experience implementing and evolving infrastructure as code, e.g. with Terraform.
- Experience with high-volume data ingestion pipelines, such as video, audio or streaming data (nice to have).
- Experience with Test driven development methodology (nice to have).
