We currently have a role as an AI Application Modernization Architect/Lead with our large consulting client, working for a public sector, crown corporationin the Montreal area.

AI Application Modernization Architect/Lead
Type: Permanent or Long Term Contract
Location:
Hybrid - Montreal, QC -(2/3 days per week onsite)
Salary: Base salary ranges from $140,000 - $160,000 (depending on experience)+ 9% bonus + 4-5 weeks paid vacation + 6% RRSP matching + benefits + sick/personal day + cell phone allowance + discounts for public transit and may other perks
Contract Pay Rate: $100 - $120/hr (freelance/incorporated)

Project Overview This will be a long term project starting in Q4 2026/Q1 2027 , working for a Quebec public sector/crown corporation on application modernization and artificial intelligence integrated into the squads responsible for legacy systems. The work may include the automated analysis of existing code bases and documentation, the mapping of dependencies, the identification of implicit business behaviors, the generation or transformation of components, the production of non-regression tests and assistance with technological or platform migrations.
The consultants work together with the functional and technical experts to maintain business knowledge and reduce the risk of regression during the transformation. The objective is to reduce the manual effort associated with reverse engineering, to speed up migrations and to create methods that can be reused by the squads for subsequent waves of modernization.
Job Description Design and drive the modernization of legacy applications (Java, .NET, COBOL, RPG, PL/SQL, Power Builder, etc.) using generative AI technologies to accelerate analysis, transformation, documentation, testing, and migration to modern architectures.
Responsibilities Evaluate existing applications and define the modernization strategy.
Design target cloud and microservices architectures.
Use AI platforms for code analysis, documentation generation, conversion, and development acceleration.
Supervise the modernization teams and ensure the quality of the deliverables.
Implement Dev Sec Ops and CI/CD practices.
Support customer teams in the adoption of new environments.
