(1) EXPLANATORY NOTES

The recruitment process for the Traffic Controller position includes the following specifics:

  • The selected candidate will be trained by ADM through a theoretical and practical training program developed specifically to meet the company’s needs.
  • The training will last a total of around forty-six (46) weeks.
  • The selected candidate must successfully qualify at the end of the theoretical and practical training in order to eventually be hired as a Traffic Controller.
  • The probation period will begin once the candidate officially starts working as a qualified Traffic Controller, according to staffing needs.

(2) For internal candidates:
Salary for the primary position is maintained for the duration of the theoretical and practical training, approximately 46 weeks.

Upon appointment, the provisions of the collective agreement will apply.

Under the authority of the Assistant Director – Airside Ground Traffic Management, the incumbent is responsible for controlling aircraft and vehicle traffic on the Trudeau apron area, assigning aircraft boarding and deboarding gates, baggage carousels, entering flight data used for displays and billing, updating each airline’s master file, and making corrections to weekly flight schedules for both airports when needed.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure safe, orderly, and efficient traffic flow by controlling aircraft, passenger shuttle vehicles, escort vehicles, including grounds maintenance teams and emergency vehicles, using VHF radio communication.
  • Coordinate apron snow removal operations with the Grounds Maintenance department.
  • Assign boarding gates, parking stands, and baggage carousels according to established priorities.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for each flight by entering schedule revisions, aircraft call signs, adding unscheduled flights, validating facility availability following schedule changes, and verifying flight origins and destinations when necessary using computer terminals.
  • Enter data for report generation used for billing and for various airport departments.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders and other ADM departments to ensure smooth aeronautical operations.
  • Respond to occasional user/customer requests.
  • Perform any other related duties connected to airport operations.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Hold a high school diploma in a relevant field.
  • Good knowledge of or experience with airport operations, facilities, or airport clientele is considered an asset.
  • Excellent spoken and written French and English.
  • Ability to work with computerized equipment.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong sustained concentration abilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Good speaking skills and ease in communicating, sharing, and explaining work-related information and details.
  • Ability to analyze situations with sound judgment and make quick decisions.
  • Be autonomous, organized, and able to prioritize work effectively.
  • Show initiative, resourcefulness, and perseverance.
  • Demonstrate tact and diplomacy.
  • Contribute to achieving team objectives through collaboration and respect.
  • Successfully pass the background check to obtain a restricted-area pass.
