SUMMARY
Operator, Warehouse is responsible for the manual off-loading and reloading of examination cargo from marine shipping containers.Requires flexibility and adaptability to work extended hours to meet work demands. Requires ability to organize and prioritize activities to complete tasks and assignments with a high degree of independence, in a timely/efficient manner. Ability to perform with a high level of accuracy.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Use lift truck equipment and attachments (slip-sheet, carton clamp, drum clamp, appliance clamp, etc) to off load marine container cargo
• Assist in manual cargo handling as required
• Convey off-loaded cargo into warehouse storage and stage for CBSA Border Service Officer (BSO) examination
• Assists BSO’s with conducting the examination of cargo by lifting, sorting and opening packaging as request
• Stage cargo for reloading and assist manual cargo handlers as required.
• Timely and accurate completion of cargo handling reports, variances reports and hold/detention reports
• Health and Safety compliance in accordance with federal and provincial regulations and company policies
• Daily warehouse housekeeping
• Becoming an effective team member by participating in process improvement initiatives
• Performing other general administrative / warehouse duties / cleaning tasks as assigned
• Comply with and maintain 5S quality program
• Use various cargo scanning and warehouse management technology to ship, receive and process cargo

• Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a transportation/logistics/distribution warehouse
• High School Completed
• Valid Counterbalance fork truck operator certification
Skills and Competencies
• Strong data accuracy and attention to details
• Familiarity with Logistics or transportation terminology
• Good command, both verbal and written, English skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, building professional relationships internally and externally
• Ability to multi-task, plan, prioritize and manage time effectively to meet goals and achieve results
• Strong problem-solving skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

Language and Computer Skills
• Good command, both verbal and written, English skills
• English is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.
• Microsoft Office suite
• Working knowledge of transportation management software i.e., Load Link, PC Miler, etc., would be an asset.
Physical Demands
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Must be able to continuously lift heavy items (over 65 lbs)
• Regular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.
