About the “Department”- The laboratory at Montrose Regional Health is fully accredited by the Joint Commission of Accredited Healthcare Organizations and registered by the State of Colorado.
- It is staffed by certified medical technologists and technicians working under the supervision of two full‑time pathologists.
- The Cytologist is responsible for processing specimens and studying cells microscopically from the human body to detect evidence of cancer and other pathological conditions.
- Receives body materials and fluids such as blood, urine, exudates, and scrapings and performs all necessary procedures for preparation of specimen.
- Assumes responsibility for all Joint Commission compliant QC and QA documentation covering the cytopathology section.
- Education: Must have graduated from a school of cytotechnology accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation; or be licensed by a certifying agency approved by HHS. CT (ASCP) certification, IAC or equivalent required.

Experience:
Must have 3 years of full‑time experience as a cytotechnologist within the preceding 10 years. Should be experienced with non‑GYN cytology and fine needle aspiration techniques. - Job Knowledge: Prefer current Thin Prep certification, and processing acumen.
- Previous work experience in medical field: Preferred.
