SummaryThe Pharmaceutical Specialist will be responsible for moving medication requests through the systems with precision while communicating with necessary channels effectively to deliver timely, patient centered care.
Responsibilities- Manage all prescription refill requests received via fax, phone and electronic.
- Communicate directly with patients when medications have been delayed, proposing solutions for handling
- Resolve general issues when they arise
- Manage procedure flow chart with adherence
- Assess and analyze patient charts for needed information to deduce next steps
- Communicate with providers and medical assistants based on controlled substance protocols
- Process all requests timely
- Ability to interpret faxes, escripts, verbal and written prescription orders
- Experience with online prescription systems and EHR’s a plus
- Knowledge of pharmacy and medical terminology
- Understanding of Company and HIPAA patient confidentiality and compliance
- Must exhibit excellent customer service skills and attention to detail
- Ability to identify problems and assist in finding solutions
- Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians, providers, and other staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively and be an integral part of the team
- Ability to use good reasoning and judgment
LPN, RN, MA preferred. Minimum pharmacy tech experience required (1-2 years)
Experience- EHR systems navigation
- Med management or prescription refill
- Work as prescription refill technician or alongside provider as an assistant
- 2+ years customer service experience
- Work with deadlines and understand SOP adherence
Physical Requirements
Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment.
ConditionsNormal office environment. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, and other members of the public on a regular basis.
