LPN - Part Time
Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS) is inviting applications for a Part Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, CO.
Hourly Pay: $29.00 – $35.25 per hour based on experience, plus $2.25 per hour evening and night shift differential.
Schedules offered: Part‑time shifts with days varying; every other weekend required. Available shift times:
- 6:00 am – 2:00 pm
- 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm
- 10:00 pm – 6:00 am

As an LPN, duties will be performed in accordance with state and local laws and in line with professional standards. You will provide nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and demonstrate competence in the psychological, biological, and social sciences that underpin patient care.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school and hold current licensure as an LPN in Colorado.
- Maintain a current CPR certification.
- Effective communicator with staff, families and external agencies.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Customer‑service oriented, with knowledge of successful techniques.
- Ability to understand residents’ charts, doctor’s orders, plan of care, and medication orders.
- Reliable in gathering clinical data regarding resident status and condition.
- Proficient with computers and electronic devices for duties such as timekeeping, in‑service training, and documentation.
- Maintain IV certification if required in Colorado.
- Knowledge of antibiotic stewardship, infection prevention and control, and OSHA guidelines.
Essential Functions:
- Nursing Unit Functions
- Model positive communication skills with residents, interdisciplinary team, and families.
- Listen to shift reports and maintain open communication with supervisors, co‑workers, and incoming shifts.
- Perform rounds to assess residents’ physical and psychosocial status.
- Assign personnel appropriately to meet resident needs.
- Ensure that unit personnel and volunteers perform their assigned duties.
- Resident Care Functions
- Maintain competence in all required skills within the facility.
- Treat residents with respect and dignity.
- Observe, record, and report residents’ conditions, reactions to treatments, and significant events.
- Participate in care planning as directed by the Director of Nursing.
- Immediately report suspected abuse or neglect per facility policy.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments per provider orders.
- Follow all shift routines, policies, and procedures for monitoring vitals, weight, medication administration, and treatments.
- Perform nursing techniques such as catheterization, tube feeding, suctioning, wound care, colostomy care, and other prescribed procedures.
- Provide range‑of‑motion exercises and end‑of‑life/expired resident care within scope of practice.
- Make physician/provider calls to report changes in resident condition and document accordingly.
- Keep families informed of resident status and document updates.
- Comply with emergency protocols and task requirements.
- Follow Advance Directives (DNR/DNI/CPR/Comfort Care) protocols.
- Charting and Documentation Functions
- Maintain all required documentation accurately and promptly per facility policies.
- Contribute to completing and updating residents’ care plans as directed by RN.
- Perform routine charting duties in accordance with charting policies.
- Transcribe physician orders accurately and forward necessary information to other departments.
- Document and report all events involving residents, visitors, and staff.
- Use Electronic Health Record effectively for documentation.
