Overview

We are recruiting for a MSAT Chemistry Team Manager position to join our Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) team. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, guide process improvements, and coach a high-performing team to support safe and compliant manufacturing. You will work closely with production, quality, EHS, and engineering teams to drive technical transfers, investigations, and enhancements that ensure successful product delivery to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing MSAT chemistry team to deliver technical support and execute projects.
  • Oversee compliant process transfers, scale-up activities, and technical handovers to production.
  • Sponsor technical investigations and root cause analysis to resolve manufacturing issues efficiently.
  • Define product control strategies, track performance, and enable continuous process verification.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance quality, cost, and delivery while maintaining safety and compliance.
  • Build capability within the team and share knowledge across site and MSAT networks.

Basic Qualifications
  • A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, or related scientific discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments supporting chemistry or process technical activities.
  • Demonstrable people management skills, including coaching and developing technical staff.
  • Practical experience with technical transfers, process scale-up, or validation activities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and risk-based decision making.
  • Clear communication skills and collaborative experience with production, quality, and engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a relevant scientific or engineering field.
  • Expertise in process analytical technologies, continuous process verification, or statistical process control.
  • Knowledge of cleaning validation, contamination control, and extractables/leachables.
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations and inspection readiness.
  • Proven success in leading improvement programs and delivering measurable operational benefits.
  • Experience with digital tools for process monitoring and knowledge management.
Work Pattern

This role is based at a GSK UK manufacturing site at Montrose and regular on-site presence will be required to support manufacturing and team leadership.
