Wind Farm Planner / Works Coordinator

Inch Cape is a 1080MW offshore wind farm situated 15km from the Angus coast in the North Sea. The power it generates will be transmitted 85 kilometres to a new substation at Cockenzie, in East Lothian, where it will enter the national transmission system. The project, valued at more than £3 billion, will contribute significantly to the UK’s carbon emissions‑reduction targets. Once complete its 72 turbines will generate enough electricity to power almost half the homes in Scotland.

of Assignment

The Wind Farm Planner / Works Coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and optimising all maintenance activities undertaken during the Operations & Maintenance phase of the offshore wind farm. The role acts as the operational hub between Engineering, Offshore Operations, Marine Coordination, Warehouse, Procurement and Contractors, ensuring maintenance activities are safely planned, fully resourced, technically prepared, efficiently scheduled, correctly documented and accurately recorded within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

It is fundamental to maximising turbine availability, improving workforce productivity, reducing offshore downtime and ensuring full compliance with maintenance strategies, statutory inspection requirements and OEM maintenance programmes.

Role Context

The Planner / Works Coordinator provides operational planning support for preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance, major component exchanges, inspection and blade campaigns, cable repairs, offshore substation maintenance, balance of plant maintenance, vessel campaigns, warranty works and reliability improvement campaigns. All work is planned in accordance with maintenance strategy, asset integrity plans, weather windows, vessel availability, personnel competency, spare parts availability, marine logistics and permit‑to‑work requirements.

Montrose. (3 days a week in the office, 2 days WFH)

Responsibilities Maintenance Planning
  • Develop detailed maintenance schedules covering annual maintenance, quarterly campaigns, weekly plans and daily offshore work plans
  • Develop work packages for scheduled maintenance, corrective maintenance, campaign work, defect rectification and statutory inspections
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are aligned with OEM recommendations and asset management plans
CMMS Management

Act as CMMS super user for maintenance planning, typically using IBM Maximo, SAP PM, IFS or Hexagon EAM.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creation of work orders
  • Preventive maintenance schedules
  • Corrective maintenance planning
  • Resource allocation and labour planning
  • Equipment history, asset registers and maintenance backlog management
  • Failure coding, asset criticality assessment and maintenance KPI reporting

Maintain maintenance records to be complete, auditable and compliant.

Offshore Scheduling
  • Coordinate vessel schedules, CTV utilisation, SOV campaigns, technician rotations and contractor mobilisation
  • Balance priorities considering weather, marine restrictions, availability, commercial priorities and safety requirements
  • Optimise offshore resource utilisation
Resource Planning
  • Coordinate availability of technicians, engineers, contractors, OEM specialists, marine assets, lifting equipment, cranes and specialist tooling
  • Ensure competency requirements are satisfied before mobilisation
Materials & Logistics Coordination

Work closely with Procurement and Warehouse teams to coordinate spare parts, consumables, major components, return of failed components, tooling, calibration and offshore containers. Ensure material availability before work commencement.

Maintenance Backlog Management
  • Maintain an accurate maintenance backlog prioritised by asset criticality, safety, regulatory compliance, production loss, reliability and environmental risk
  • Report backlog trends to Engineering Management
KPI Management
  • Maintain planning KPIs such as schedule compliance, PM completion, work order closure, maintenance backlog, vessel…
