Construction Manager

This organisation is one of the fastest-growing players in the global Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) market, delivering utility-scale energy storage projects across Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. Backed by a publicly listed parent group with annual revenues exceeding €270 million, the business has established itself as a leading technology integrator with more than 1GWh of energy storage assets already in operation and a further 1GWh under construction.

Despite challenging market conditions, it generated €90 million in revenue during H1 2024, achieved positive EBITDA of €4.4 million and reached net income breakeven, demonstrating both strong commercial execution and financial stability.

Following continued growth across its European operations and a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, the business is now expanding its team in Milan and is looking to appoint an experienced Construction Manager.

The Construction Manager will play a critical role in the successful delivery of utility-scale energy storage and renewable energy projects across the EMEA region. Responsibilities will include:

Identifying, evaluating and managing construction contractors and EPC partners, supporting supplier qualification, tendering and procurement activities in collaboration with internal commercial, technical and procurement teams.
Leading construction tender processes, including the preparation, coordination and evaluation of subcontractor bid packages in accordance with both local and global standards.
Reviewing and validating technical, commercial and contractual documentation to ensure quality, compliance and timely submission.
Developing construction cost estimates and installation budgets while supporting commercial and technical bid evaluations.
Identifying, assessing and mitigating construction-related risks throughout both tendering and project execution phases.
Preparing technical assessments and ensuring alignment between contractor proposals and client requirements, while minimising project risks and deviations.
Supporting contract negotiations with contractors and clients, working closely with Legal, Procurement and Commercial teams to ensure commercially sound and risk-balanced agreements.
Conducting site visits, site assessments and preliminary construction planning activities during the pre-construction phase.
Developing construction schedules and integrating contractor programmes into the overall project delivery plan.
Supporting a seamless handover from project development into execution, assisting Project Managers and Site Managers throughout construction, including claims and variation management.
Providing remote support to Site Managers during project delivery and, where required, taking responsibility for on-site management activities across the EMEA region.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives across construction management processes, reporting structures and best practices.
Ensuring the highest standards of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) compliance while promoting a strong safety-first culture amongst contractors and subcontractors.
Acting as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, clients and third-party partners, providing regular progress updates throughout project delivery.

Requirements
Education & Experience
Master's degree in Engineering, preferably Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years' experience within construction management, project delivery or a similar role.
Demonstrable experience delivering multidisciplinary, large-scale energy, electrical infrastructure, renewable energy or industrial projects.
Strong understanding of on-site construction activities, contractor management and project execution methodologies.
Experience working within international project environments would be highly advantageous.

This is a unique opportunity to join a market-leading energy storage developer at a pivotal stage of its growth, where you will play a key role in delivering large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects that are critical to the energy transition. The position offers significant exposure to high-profile international projects, the opportunity to work alongside some of the industry's leading experts, and clear long-term career progression within a rapidly expanding organisation that continues to invest heavily in both its people and technology.
