Overview
Main Street Family Care is growing and we're hiring a fast, fun, and friendly Medical Assistant (PRN) to work in the Moody region. Our Medical Assistants support onsite providers with patient intake, assessment, treatment, and discharge. Services include urgent care, primary medical care, telemedicine, and occupational medicine. Flexibility is a must.
Responsibilities- Clinical
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments
- Take patient histories and vital signs
- Prepare patient for examination and treatment
- Dispense medication as directed
- Instruct and educate patients about discharge instructions, when applicable
- Handle telephone calls from clients, patients, prospective patients, physicians, pharmacies, as well as other staff
- Provide solutions to patient concerns within the scope of the position
- Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments
- Complete opening and closing procedures
- Maintain disposable and non-disposable supplies, e.g., wound care supplies, laundry, etc.
- Annual training as needed
- Help produce and maintain patient education instruction hand-outs
- Maintain clean, professional working/treatment area
- Accept and assume responsibility for special projects as they arise
- All other duties as assigned
- Clerical
- Patient intake including scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and collections
- Provide accurate and timely documentation to staff, insurance carriers and companies
- Correspondence by phone, in person, or in writing regarding patient care, i.e. insurance carriers, physicians, non-clinic physicians
- Maintain patient records for clinical use, medical records use, billing use, physicians’ review, etc.
- Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments
- Complete opening and closing procedures
- Other Duties
- Maintain disposable and non-disposable supplies, e.g., wound care supplies, laundry, etc.
- Annual training as needed
- Help produce and maintain patient education instruction hand-outs
- Maintain clean, professional working/treatment area
- Accept and assume responsibility for special projects as they arise
- All other duties as assigned
- Clinic staff will be split into two shifts:
Shift A and Shift B, rotating every other weekend. - Main Street Clinic
Hours:
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.;
Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. - Kids Street Clinic Hours (Montgomery, Pelham, Mobile, Columbus only):
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.;
Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. - Flexibility for the schedule is a must.
Main Street and Kids Street clinic hours subject to change.
Qualifications- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Prior Medical Assisting experience or education is beneficial, but not required
- Position begins at $14 / hr.
- Mileage pay
- Standard pre-employment background checks and drug screens are performed
