Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
STS Packaging, a Schwarz Partners, L.P. affiliate company, is currently seeking Maintenance Technicians/Mechanics to support our Mooresville/Monrovia, IN facility. The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician is to maintain all equipment, machinery, and the building in good working order and repair as necessary. Maintenance Technicians are responsible for individual compliance with all safety rules, regulations, and policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
- Provide and maintain appropriate tools (and toolbox with lock) to perform all necessary job functions.
- Perform work order repairs and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment including Microflute Corrugator, Flatbed die cutters, KBA folder/gluers, Hillside formers, Conveyor System, Forklifts, and Auxiliary Equipment (Boiler, Starch kitchen, Air Compressors, Bailer, etc.).
- Complete all assigned Work Orders promptly.
- Understand pneumatics, electrical controls, and hydraulics to diagnose and fix problems.
- Apply mechanical and electrical skills such as timing gears, rebuilding pumps/motors, reading schematics, etc.
- Troubleshoot to identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Maintain Maintenance Parts Inventory and Plant Sanitation standards, including recording parts used and ensuring proper restocking.
- Set up and breakdown machinery to meet quality, safety, and housekeeping standards.
- Perform facility shutdown and startup procedures correctly.
- Operate PIT equipment per OSHA standards, including daily inspections and battery changes.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas.
- Work overtime as needed, including participating in OSHA and Plant Sanitation training.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.
SAFETY:
- Follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Report unsafe practices or conditions.
- Intervene with colleagues engaging in unsafe activities.
- Report persistent safety violations to management.
- Wear PPE properly and report any defects.
- Report all incidents, near misses, and injuries.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Follow Safety/GMP/PPE guidelines.
- Work 8-hour shifts, including weekends and overtime.
- Strong mechanical skills.
- Attention to detail and quality.
- Team-oriented attitude.
- Computer proficiency.
- Good math and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new tasks.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of paper packaging is a plus but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Stand and walk continuously; minimal sitting.
- Regularly lift/move up to 50+ pounds.
- Bend, twist, kneel around machinery.
- Climb ladders and stairs frequently.
