As a Base Crew Foreman, you’ll lead and work alongside your crew to prep and install the base layers for synthetic turf and track systems. This role is hands‑on, physical, and fast‑paced – requiring strong leadership, problem‑solving, and attention to detail. You’ll oversee daily site work, ensure quality and safety standards are met, and help keep the project moving on schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and lead a crew in the excavation, grading, compaction, and base installation process.
- Ensure proper layout and adherence to grade specifications per project plans.
- Operate heavy equipment such as skid steers, rollers, and graders as needed.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure base material meets required compaction and tolerances.
- Maintain daily reports including crew attendance, work progress, equipment usage, and material delivery.
- Communicate effectively with Project Managers, subcontractors, and inspectors.
- Enforce safety regulations and ensure job site cleanliness and compliance with OSHA standards.
- Identify and resolve potential issues proactively to avoid project delays.
- 1+ year of experience leading a crew in construction, landscaping, or a similar trade.
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage, and aggregate base construction.
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to lead a team and coordinate with other departments.
- OSHA 10 (or 30), Heavy Equipment, or SWPPP certifications a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Able to lift and carry 50+ pounds regularly.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather conditions including heat and humidity.
- Capable of standing, kneeling, squatting, and bending for extended periods.
- Must be prepared for frequent travel that can last for extended periods.
