Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, this role facilitates student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through the implementation of district-approved curriculum. The teacher documents teaching and student progress, addresses the specific educational needs of individual students, creates a flexible and safe learning environment, and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
EssentialFunctions
- Develops and administers the elementary curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
- Creates a safe classroom environment conducive to individualized and small‑group instruction and student learning.
- Plans and delivers lessons, translating curricular content into effective learning experiences.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instruction to meet individual needs, including students with special needs.
- Taught responsible citizenship principles and other core subjects in line with state laws and district regulations.
- Engages in professional learning through seminars, workshops, and research.
- Maintains accurate records of grading, attendance, and student activities per district procedures.
- Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication with families.
- Enforces school and district conduct standards, establishing a respectful learning atmosphere.
- Collaborates with fellow elementary teachers to evaluate curriculum and participates in school meetings and committees.
- Selects instructional materials and maintains inventory of books and supplies.
- Supervises students during off‑classroom activities, including transportation.
- Administers standardized tests in accordance with district programs.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction.
- Knowledge of the elementary curriculum and data analysis for action planning.
- Understanding of federal and state educational laws.
- Proficiency with computer networks and educational software.
- Organizational and coordination skills.
- Strong communication with students and parents.
- Commitment to professional growth and self‑evaluation.
- Ability to build cooperative relationships with colleagues.
- State Certification as an Elementary Teacher (required).
- State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree in a related area preferred.
Successful prior teaching experience in elementary grades is a plus.
