Job Summary

The Race Engineer III (3rd Race Engineer) supports the performance engineering and setup optimization of an assigned race team under the direction of the Primary and 2nd Race Engineers. This role focuses on data acquisition, analysis, and vehicle setup preparation both in the shop and  3rd Race Engineer contributes to simulation preparation, test documentation, and run‑plan execution, ensuring that all performance‑related information is accurate, organized, and actionable.

The ideal candidate combines technical rigor with hands‑on adaptability and a collaborative approach to support the team’s competitive goals.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Support creation of event‑specific setup sheets, run plans, and simulation model inputs (aero maps, tire data, suspension geometry, etc.).
  • Assist in preparing baseline setups and pre‑race vehicle configuration documentation in collaboration with Vehicle Dynamics and Shop Engineering teams.
  • Review historical performance data to identify trends and provide input for initial setup direction.
  • Coordinate data file and sensor system readiness for each race car, ensuring configurations match event and series requirements.
  • Assist with garage and pit‑lane engineering operations, including setup adjustments, data downloads, and system checks.
  • Monitor and analyze real‑time telemetry and data channels (driver inputs, pressures, balance metrics, lap time analytics, etc.) to identify opportunities for performance improvement or reliability concerns.
  • Record, organize, and distribute all run data, setup changes, and feedback notes during sessions.
  • Support execution of test plans and implement changes directed by the Primary or 2nd Race Engineer.
  • Perform quick‑turn data validation and troubleshooting of sensors, wiring, or DAQ channels as needed in coordination with the electrical and systems groups.
  • Produce detailed post‑event data reports, setup summaries, and driver inputs and feedback analysis.
  • Assist in correlation between simulation predictions and on‑track results to refine models and tools.
  • Participate in component evaluations, setup testing, and development projects led by the engineering group.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of engineering databases, test logs, and configuration histories for assigned vehicle.
  • Support departmental continuous improvement initiatives including data process automation and documentation updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong technical knowledge in vehicle dynamics, chassis systems, aerodynamics, suspension, and tires.
  • Proficient in data analysis, simulations, data analytics software, strategy tools and interpreting engineering reports.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making, and project management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced racing environment.
  • Positive, proactive, and adaptable approach to challenges.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to interpret large data sets into actionable insights.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Motorsports Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field required.
