Summary

Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating radiographic equipment and making radiographs of designated anatomical areas.

Work Performed

Operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated anatomical areas, adjusting equipment for proper exposure according to safety guidelines.

Explain procedures to patients and position them appropriately using assistive devices and protective equipment.

Monitor accessory equipment and assist physicians with fluoroscopic and special radiographic procedures.

Process images to ensure optimal quality and match with paperwork for interpretation.

Charge radiographic procedures and modify orders as per protocol.

Critique image quality, including positioning, technical factors, and collimation.

Use the Image Archival System effectively.

Provide education and training to DUHS-affiliated radiology technology programs and orient new technologists.

Perform related duties incidental to the work described.

Education

Graduate or completion of a program meeting eligibility for registry/certification, or current registry/certification.

Experience

Level I:
Certification within 18 months of employment.

Level II:
Minimum of two years' experience as a diagnostic radiology technologist.

Level III:
At least 4 years' experience within the specialty modality.

Degrees, Licenses, Certifications

ARRT certification in radiography, ARRT certification within 18 months of hire, BLS certification.
