Biomedical Technician II – 100% Travel

Intelas, a Compass One Healthcare Company, delivers smarter asset management for hospitals. This position is 100% travel across North America, supporting clinical equipment uptime and regulatory compliance.

Job Summary
As a Biomedical Technician II you will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of patient care equipment at various health sites while traveling extensively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned maintenance and electrical safety inspections on a broad range of patient care equipment.
  • Manage assigned equipment and schedule service calls.
  • Perform pre‑acceptance inspections and develop preventive maintenance procedures; maintain files on procedures and manuals.
  • Ensure test equipment is calibrated within established intervals.
  • Respond expeditiously to clinical department calls to evaluate and resolve valid operator complaints.
  • Research and initiate orders for repair parts, working within established budget parameters.
  • Maintain purchase order log and validate invoices for payment (field service personnel only).
  • Provide informal training to equipment users and Intelas staff when requested or when circumstances dictate.
  • Make recommendations to the Department Manager regarding service strategies; keep supervisor informed of activities, needs, and problems.
  • Participate in the Quality Improvement / Risk Management program by identifying customer concerns and suggesting improvements.
  • Maintain an orderly and functional work environment.
  • Provide emergency on‑call responsibilities as needed.
  • Document all significant asset‑related actions in compliance with department practices.
  • Participate in department meetings; collaborate with technical personnel to ensure knowledge of updates and device‑related issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in electronics/biomedical equipment technology, military training, or equivalent experience.
  • Three years servicing clinical/patient care equipment in a hospital environment.
  • Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel as a field service professional.
  • Ability to work independently with some supervision.
  • Good communication and strong customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications for tracking service histories and generating asset reports.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness and ability to serve on‑call duty as required.
  • Strong work ethic and teamwork capability.
