Overview

Athletic Trainer at Oak Grove High School with Middle School Outreach.

Job Summary

Evaluates, plans, instructs, and monitors athletic training programs to help athletes prevent injury, restore function, and reach the maximum level of independence. Evaluates athletes’ sports-related injuries, physical conditions, and needs; recommends a scientific care plan including schedule, treatment programs, and related education based on their capabilities and limitations. Utilizes appropriate assistive devices to protect athletes from injury. Explains and updates safety rules governing daily training, recreational activities, and the use of professional exercise equipment.

Implements and monitors athletic training programs for rehabilitation and reconditioning according to the athlete s diagnosis and real-time condition. Documents and interprets information gathered from medical records, physicians, and family. Uses appropriate testing/evaluation techniques to assess injuries (including concussions); may perform concussion testing (neurocognitive, balance, vestibular/oculomotor).

Qualifications
  • Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification and licensed/registered in state(s) of practice; multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
  • Driver's license may be required based on facility needs and must meet Sanford Health medical guidelines for Category I or III drivers.
