Embrace Excellence

Reporting into the Global Supply Chain (GSC) Op Ex & Training Manager and with a dotted line into the UK Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manger, this role will co-ordinate and support technical operational and compliance training activities across our distilleries in the North of Scotland (The Macallan, Glenrothes, and Highland Park).

This role will involve working closely with subject matter experts and line managers to analyse learning requirements and design, develop, and implement training initiatives and activities to meet these requirements and improve technical capability and skills throughout the distilleries. This will include liaising with external training providers and supporting the development of internal training courses and material, covering both digital / on-line learning and practical / classroom training.

  • Design, develop, and implement internal training initiatives and activities to meet the defined technical learning requirements for each department/team /individual, collaborating with internal subject matter experts for technical content.
  • Co-ordinate external training providers to meet learning requirements that cannot be fulfilled internally, including arranging appropriate dates / times and booking suitable training locations.
  • Gather feedback on internal training initiatives / activities and externally provided courses to identify any areas for improvement, implementing positive changes to improve learning experiences in the future.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the Capability Framework, working with line managers to understand the on-going technical learning requirements of their teams and working with the rest of the Training Team to maintain the centralized training course library.
  • Proactively plan and co-ordinate all training activities to ensure on-going compliance with relevant regulations and policies, seeking expertise from the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Team when needed.
  • Ensure completion of training and any evidence of competency assessment is recorded and stored in agreed locations
  • Periodically report on the training gap in technical skills and capability across the UK distilleries
  • Provide evidence of training and any other information requested as part of routine audits (internal and external) or any data access requests received via HR.
  • Support induction of new starts joining the UK distilleries
  • Work with the rest of the Training Team and HR to promote Modern Apprenticeships at the UK distilleries
Your Talent and Skills

To be successful in this role, y ou have extensive experience in designing and delivering impactful training courses and materials, with the ability to create concise and clear digital content as well as plan and deliver engaging classroom sessions. Your strong organisational and planning skills are complemented by excellent attention to detail and a proven ability to solve problems effectively. You are experienced in managing and collaborating with multiple stakeholders, balancing diverse requirements and priorities.

You can adapt your communication style to suit different audiences, ensuring messages are delivered effectively. Driven by a passion for continuous improvement, you critically assess and challenge existing processes to enhance outcomes. Additionally, experience in working within a distillery environment and/or in health and safety or other compliance-related roles is highly advantageous.
