Service Engineer

Field-Based, Scotland

Salary: c39270 Basic + Overtime

MC Technical Recruitment is currently looking to recruit a Service Engineer on behalf of a leading, well-established timber processing and renewable energy group operating across Ireland and the UK. This is a field-based role covering client sites throughout Scotland.

As a Service Engineer, you will work as part of a team delivering carbon neutral solutions to clients, travelling to sites throughout Scotland (with overnight stays as required) to carry out engineering and maintenance support that maximises the availability, efficiency and performance of industrial biomass steam boilers.

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking and managing planned preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Responding quickly and efficiently to breakdowns
  • Carrying out routine servicing and inspection of mechanical plant, electrical equipment and instrumentation
  • Diagnosing faults and troubleshooting issues across the client portfolio
  • Hosting and inducting specialist sub-contractors, ensuring they conform to site requirements
  • Ensuring service delivery meets client contract KPIs
  • Using the company's computerised maintenance system (Pirana) to schedule and record all maintenance tasks
  • Completing site visit reports and providing feedback to customer engineering teams
  • Producing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements
  • Other duties as required

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • An HND (or above), or a time-served apprenticeship in a mechanical/electrical engineering discipline, with a minimum of 2 years' relevant industrial experience (electrical bias preferred)
  • Proven experience delivering field service and support
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to build constructive relationships with customers, installers and colleagues
  • Good planning and organisational skills, with a proactive, hands-on approach
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Willingness to travel throughout Scotland, including overnight stays as required

The offer:

This is a permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm. The package on offer includes a competitive salary depending on experience, plus company benefits including pension and holidays.
