The Role

Lancaster City Council is looking for talented Engineers to help deliver ambitious projects that will transform our district.

As part of our expanding team, you’ll work on high-profile public realm and highway schemes
, as well as coastal and drainage projects that protect communities and enhance our environment. You’ll also play a key role in building capacity within the team to manage a diverse portfolio of assets.

• Be part of major regeneration projects
  , including the Morecambe Bay/Heysham Gateway commercial development and exciting mixed-use city centre plans.
• Contribute to coastal and flood defence schemes that safeguard our future.
• Work in a team that’s passionate about innovation and sustainability – Lancaster has declared a
  climate emergency and is committed to achieving
  net-zero carbon by 2030
  .

• Experience in contract design, preparation, administration and site supervision
  .
• Skills in project coordination and budget control
  , plus proficiency in AutoCAD
  .
• A degree or postgraduate qualification in Engineering is desirable, but we value experience and practical know-how.

• Inspect and manage council infrastructure assets.
• Design projects using computer drawing applications.
• Produce contract documents and supervise construction work.
• Collaborate with colleagues, external agencies, and the public to solve complex challenges.

Full UK driving licence is essential for site visits and surveys.
