The Chief Nursing Officer will be a visible, inclusive and collaborative executive leader, ensuring delivery of the Trust’s vision to provide the highest possible standards of compassionate care; the very best patient and colleague experience; and to listen to and involve patients, colleague and carers.

The Chief Nursing Officer is a member of our Unitary Board and as such is an executive director first and a portfolio holder second, working with the team to deliver the Trust strategy and having Board level responsibility for the overall quality of services and the development and leadership of the nursing, midwifery, healthcare assistant and allied health professional workforce.

As an effective member of our Unitary Board you will build collegiate and solution focused relationships with all system partners, in particular chief nursing officers, to ensure that we provide services and deliver results for the benefit of all of the communities we collectively serve. You will be at the forefront of our transformation to a Place-Based organisation.

As the executive lead for quality and safety and will provide strategic advice to the Trust Board on issues relating to patient safety and experience, infection prevention and control, clinical governance and safeguarding. You will provide expert advice to the Board on clinical issues, governance and risks in the context of the Trust’s strategic aims and objectives, including opportunities to develop non-medical professional roles and responsibilities

You will have primary responsibility for:

Clinical and professional leadership of nurses, midwives, allied health professionals and other non-medical professional colleagues

Patient experience, quality and safety

Patient, service user and carer engagement

Clinical and governance
