Community Staff Nurse South District - Maternity Leave

Overview

Morecambe South District Nurses invites applications for a temporary 30‑hour per week maternity nursing post until August 2027. The role is based in Morecambe and works across community settings and local hospitals. The position requires flexibility across a 7‑day week and includes evenings and weekends.

• Provide high‑quality nursing care to patients with a variety of medical conditions in the community setting.
• Work flexibly over 7 days including weekends and evening shifts.
• Undertake complex nursing assessments and develop and deliver programmes of care for patients and carers.
• Collaborate with health and social care colleagues, voluntary sector and informal carers to promote excellent care in patients’ homes and community settings.
• Support the 24‑hour district nurse service when required.

• Registered nurse with nursing practitioner or higher qualifications is preferred.
• Student nurses due to qualify and newly qualified staff nurses are welcomed.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

You will work across three main hospitals—Furness General Hospital (FGH), Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH)—as well as several community health care premises such as Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
