Permanent | Hybrid
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join a highly technical engineering team developing sophisticated software for complex, real-world systems.
You’ll work across a variety of projects involving software development, data processing, sensor integration and machine vision, ranging from rapid proof-of-concept work through to robust software components used within long-lived engineering products.
This would suit an engineer with a strong STEM background, excellent problem-solving skills and solid software engineering fundamentals. Specialist domain knowledge isn’t essential and can be developed within the role.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Developing and maintaining high-quality, reusable software components.
* Working across projects using Python, C#, C++, Type Script and modern web technologies.
* Contributing to system design, technical decisions and code reviews.
* Debugging, profiling and optimising complex or performance-sensitive software.
* Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
* Supporting both rapid development projects and longer-term product development.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong programming ability in one or more languages such as Python, C#, C++, Type Script or similar.
* Good understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP).
* Strong software engineering fundamentals including modular design, separation of concerns, version control, testing and debugging.
* Experience developing well-structured software for complex systems.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* A STEM background such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
* Machine vision or image/data processing.
* Sensor or hardware integration.
* Multi-threaded, real-time or performance-sensitive software.
* Windows or Linux desktop application development.
* Working across the full software stack.
* Contributing to established, shared codebases.
