The Manager of Central Sterile Processing will supervise all sterile processing activities, including scheduling, educating, and training. Responsible for staff orientation, ensuring proper distribution of surgical instruments, managing the budget, hiring, and employee discipline.

• Develop and administer budgets, review equipment recommendations, and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Oversee staff development, maintain integrity and sterility of products, and collaborate with OR staff to provide timely sterile products.
• Operate and maintain decontamination equipment; perform daily cleaning and validation of washer‑disinfector cleaner.
• Operate and maintain steam autoclaves, keeping records of loads completed, items in loads, and maintenance procedures performed.
• Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize medical devices following manufacturer’s recommendations and established procedures.
• Monitor and maintain records to comply with regulatory agencies and report occurrences immediately.
• Maintain strong working/collaborative relationships with other departments to ensure the flow and continuity of services.
• Attend in-service presentations, including but not limited to infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS, and OSHA standards.
• Report defective equipment.
• Maintain records and demonstrate knowledge of accessing One Source computer reference for updates on IFUs.
• Maintain a state of “continuous hospital readiness” for accreditation, ensuring all relevant standards and guidelines are implemented and maintained.

High school graduate or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree in Healthcare or related field preferred.

One year experience in sterile processing and/or operating room in an acute care setting, including one year in a lead or supervisory role required.

Certification in sterile processing required. Potential certifications include Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST) or Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
