Overview
The Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is recruiting an experienced Registered Nurse for the L & D Birthing Center. The role supports mothers in the perinatal period, assists with labor, circulates in the OR, recovers newborns, and provides postpartum care.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in collaboration with physicians and the healthcare team.
- Assist physicians in administering treatments, performing medical examinations, and conducting diagnostic tests.
- Administer prescribed treatments and medications; chart treatment; record and report significant changes in condition.
- Provide orientation and training to new staff, residents, and students.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews; act as a team leader or relief charge nurse.
- Coordinate patient care and discharge planning; review post‑hospital care plans with patients and families.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license to practice in California.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Fetal monitoring certification.
- At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility.
- Experience in L & D or postpartum care.
- Work schedule:
3/12s, , every other weekend. - Specialty Care/Critical Care training will be applied after required certification and departmental authorization.
Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California. A bachelor’s degree in nursing or a health‑related field may be required for some positions.
ExperienceEquivalent to one year of full‑time experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital, outpatient clinic, or healthcare agency program.
Knowledge and Ability- Knowledge of current nursing principles, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to plan and organize nursing care, maintain accurate records, and collaborate effectively with physicians and staff.
- Skill in teaching entry‑level nurses and supporting nursing personnel.
- Maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California.
- Maintain a valid BLS certificate issued by the American Heart Association.
- Possess a current California driver’s license (may be required).
- All offers contingent upon successful completion of a pre‑employment physical exam, drug/alcohol test, and criminal background investigation, which includes fingerprinting.
- As an approved local merit system employee, subject to probationary period provisions as specified in applicable County policy.
