Position Title Support Staff – College Health Registered Nurse (Health Services) – Moreno Valley College Location

Employment Type

Part‑time, 30 hours per week, 12‑month position.

Salary

$46.62–$56.76 hourly (Grade Q).

Overview

Provide clinical nursing care to students; assess physical and mental health; collaborate with physicians and other health professionals to prepare a comprehensive patient care plan; respond to emergencies and perform crisis intervention.

Job Description

Basic Function:
Clinical nursing care, emergency response, crisis intervention.

Educational Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in nursing.
  • Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience, which may include emergency room, critical care, and/or public/family health; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience and Knowledge
  • Principles and practices of nursing care.
  • Current nursing and community health principles.
  • Clinical and medical protocols.
  • Health assessment methods and techniques.
  • Public health matters such as epidemiology, communicable diseases, and prevention.
  • Treatment and therapeutic plans for common illnesses, injuries, and mental health crises.
  • Health issues common to the community college population.
  • Community health referral resources.
  • First aid and CPR practices.
  • Crisis intervention methods and techniques.
  • Clinical safety rules and regulations.
Abilities
  • Provide nursing assessments and care to evaluate the physical and mental health needs of patients.
  • Implement treatment or therapeutic plans as appropriate, following policies, procedures, and physician orders.
  • Assess individuals and triage treatment options.
  • Perform phlebotomy for ordered laboratory tests.
  • Provide appropriate emergency response and crisis intervention.
  • Understand technical and medical terminology.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Organize work independently, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow up on assignments.
  • Apply all pertinent laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Effectively use computer systems and business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks.
  • Communicate effectively in the course of performing work tasks.
  • Establish, maintain, and foster effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Provide efficient, high‑level customer service to the public, vendors, contractors, and District personnel.
Licenses / Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability (required to drive a District or personal vehicle).
  • Valid California Registered Nurse license, maintained throughout employment.
  • Valid CPR certificate, maintained throughout employment.

Physical Demands

Mobility to work in a standard health clinic setting; vision and hearing for reading and communication; ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 40 pounds with proper equipment. The essential functions can be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

Benefits
  • Health and welfare benefit package for employees and legal qualifying dependents. Pro‑rata share for part‑time and < 12 months.
  • Vacation: 12 days per year through first five years; 15 days after five continuous years; 22 days after ten continuous years. Pro‑rata for part‑time and < 12 months.
  • Sick leave:
    One day per month of service. Pro‑rata for part‑time and < 12 months. No limit to accrued days.
  • Holiday: 13 holidays observed each year. Pro‑rata reduction for part‑time and < 12 months.
