This is a full-time role on a rolling contract, supporting children within the school's pre-school provision and helping to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where young children can learn, play, and develop.

This role is ideal for an experienced Early Years practitioner who holds a relevant Early Years qualification and is passionate about supporting children's development during the early stages of their education. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and be confident supporting children's learning through play, structured activities, and everyday routines.

As a Nursery Assistant, you will be expected to take a proactive approach to supporting the children, helping them to develop their communication, social skills, confidence, and independence. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider Early Years team to deliver engaging activities, support children's individual needs, and ensure the pre-school remains a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting learning through play, exploration, and creative activities.
  • Helping children to develop their confidence, independence, and early learning skills.
  • Supporting daily routines, including snack times, toileting, and transitions between activities.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging children to develop positive relationships with their peers.
  • Creating a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment that supports children's learning and development.
  • Observing children's progress and sharing relevant information with the class teacher and wider Early Years team.
  • Following safeguarding procedures and ensuring children's health, safety, and wellbeing at all times.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working within an Early Years or nursery setting.
  • A relevant Early Years qualification, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare.
  • A good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young children's learning and development.
  • A patient, caring, and nurturing approach.
  • The ability to create positive relationships with children, colleagues, and parents.
  • Confidence supporting children's development through play-based learning and structured activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team while using your own initiative.
  • A proactive and professional approach to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
Benefits
  • Competitive daily pay rates, based on previous experience and qualifications.
  • Holiday Pay - PAYE candidates accrue 12.07% of their day rate.
  • Pension Contributions.
  • Free, comprehensive safeguarding and Prevent Duty training, including modules on legislation, FGM, and abuse.
