  • Encouraging the child's confidence, independence, communication, and engagement with learning.
  • Supporting the child to follow classroom routines, expectations, and boundaries.
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the child while maintaining clear and consistent expectations.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide consistent support.
  • Promoting a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment for the child and their peers.
To be successful in this Teaching Assistant role, you will need:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a Primary School setting.
  • Experience supporting children with challenging behavioural needs.
  • Confidence providing 1:1 support to pupils who require additional behavioural support.
  • A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and the importance of consistency.
  • The ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.
  • A firm but fair approach, with the ability to establish clear boundaries and build positive relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to adapt your approach to meet the child's individual needs.
  • The confidence to work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support the child's progress.
  • A proactive, flexible, and professional approach to supporting children's learning and development.
