We are partnering with a multi‑billion dollar pharmaceutical packaging and medical device company to recruit an Environmental Health & Safety Manager (EHS Manager). The role requires travel between the North Carolina and New Jersey sites and a high degree of flexibility to meet changing facility needs.
Position OverviewThe EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing plant safety, environmental programs, and fostering a strong 5S culture. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, minimizing environmental impacts, and promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
Essential Accountabilities- Oversee compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulations, including ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 certification.
- Maintain and update plant safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and reduce risk.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Lead safety training sessions, emergency response drills, and onboarding orientations.
- Investigate workplace accidents and near‑misses, implement corrective actions, and maintain incident records.
- Develop strategies to minimize waste, emissions, and resource consumption in line with sustainability goals.
- Champion the 5S initiative, educating employees, conducting audits, and hosting 5S events.
- Oversee waste disposal and recycling practices per environmental regulations.
- Develop and execute emergency response plans (fire, spill, evacuation). Provide training and conduct drills.
- Analyze EHS performance metrics to identify improvement areas and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with management to integrate EHS & 5S goals into plant operations and manufacturing processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Strong interpersonal skills; adept at handling sensitive, confidential situations.
- Effective time management, organizational skills, and keen attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving/conflict‑resolution abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is an advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
Certification in safety or environmental management (e.g., CSP, CIH, ARM) highly preferred.
5–7 years of experience in environmental health and safety management, preferably in manufacturing.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and related regulations; experience in safety audits, hazard assessments, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
Experience in emergency response planning, spill containment, fire safety, and safety management systems (OSHA logs, incident reporting systems).
Physical Requirements- High availability and flexibility due to changing facility needs.
- Require proximity to the NC plant (within ~50 miles).
- Ability to work on the production floor, including nights and weekends.
