About the RoleJames Tool Machine and Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team in Morganton, NC. This role focuses on Prototrak 3-Axis CNC Mills and Lathes in a job shop / non-production environment
.
The right candidate will be able to program, set up, and operate machines to produce high-precision components.
- Program, set up, and operate Prototrak 3-axis CNC mills and lathes
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to machine parts accurately
- Work in a fast-paced job shop environment on low-volume, high-mix parts
- Commit to and follow all plant safety policies and procedures
- Ensure quality standards are met in alignment with ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements
- Adapt to frequent changes in daily machining priorities
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience (mills and/or lathes)
- Proficiency in manual, conversational, or CAM programming
- Experience with Mastercam preferred
- Strong understanding of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and handle changing priorities
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
Candidates must provide their own basic machinist tools, including:
- Dial/Digital Calipers (0–6")
- Micrometers (up to 3")
- .0005 Indicator & Edge Finder
- 1-2-3 Blocks, Precision Parallels
- Calculator, Mallet, Adjustable Wrench
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Problem-solving mindset and adaptability
- Team-oriented attitude with a focus on quality and precision
