About the RoleJames Tool Machine and Engineering, Inc. is hiring a skilled CNC Horizontal Mill Machinist to join our team in Morganton, NC. This is a job shop environment where adaptability, precision, and problem-solving are essential. The ideal candidate will be proficient in programming, set-up, and operation of CNC horizontal mills while maintaining repeatability, efficiency, and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T
- Develop CNC programs in an organized and cost-effective manner
- Set up and operate CNC horizontal mills for high-precision machining
- Perform test runs and make adjustments to meet blueprint specifications
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining and programming issues
- Optimize cutting paths and settings to improve efficiency while maintaining tolerances
- Conduct quality assurance inspections to ensure compliance with specifications
- Support AS9100 & ISO 9001 quality standards and policies
- Follow all plant safety procedures and contribute to a safe workplace
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience (horizontal milling preferred)
- Strong programming skills (manual, conversational, or CAM)
- Mastercam experience preferred
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Ability to work independently in a job shop environment
- Willingness to work overtime as required
- Strong computer and software skills
- Excellent mathematical and problem-solving ability
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Adaptability to handle frequent changes in daily priorities
- Ability to work with team members and management at all levels
