CDL Truck Driver - Hatchery

OVERVIEW

Primarily responsible for exercising safe driving practices ensuring their safety and the safety of the public. Responsible for operating a commercial motor vehicle transporting eggs from farms to the hatchery in a safe and secure manner δι.

• Drive trucks to and from the farms and hatchery.
• Utilize a forklift for lifting eggs in and out of the trucks.
• Oversee chick bus helpers.
• Ensure that chicks are delivered to the appropriate place as scheduled.
• Communicate with growers as needed.
• Complete paperwork and documentation for tasks.
• Occasionally assist with dumping chicks as needed.
• Assist in other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Comply with all Department of Transportation regulations.
• Perform and document pre‑trip inspection (tires, oil, fuel, lights, brakes, hoses, etc.).
• Assist with loading and unloading trailers as necessary.
• Ensure a secure load before movement.
• Maintain proper documentation (equipment, time, trips, weight, etc.).
• Clean and wash truck as necessary.
• Report truck and equipment maintenance issues to supervisor.
• Comply with all DOT safety rules and regulations, all company policies, and local, state correlations, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Valid Class A CDL with 2‑year verifiable satisfactory driving record.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation, state and federal laws.
• Ability to read and write legibly.
• Ability to work unsupervised and self‑motivate.
• Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous live poultry tractor centimeters trailer driving experience.
• Basic math functions and skills.
• Follow Department of Transportation, state and federal laws, and company safety policies and programs.
• Wear assigned personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Exposure consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
• Exposure to temperatures below 0 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
• May handle product between 0 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
• May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 dB to 110 dB.
• Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the company.
• Must handle the weight of 8 to 10 lbs repetitively, occasionally lifting, pushing, or pulling 40 to 70 lbs.
• Exposure to chemicals used in the poultry processing facility.
• Ability to work in a stationary position, on feet for the entire shift.
• Ability to work with heavy machinery for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to climb steps and to access and egress through the production environment.
