We are looking for a goal-driven Project Manager/Estimator to work as part of our team in Morgantown, WV. This position is responsible for all aspects of the planning and execution of assigned projects. It works closely with project superintendents, owners, engineers, and construction managers, and also supervises and trains project engineers and other related project staff.

The role creates clear and attainable project objectives while keeping focus on quality, cost, and time. It advocates a teamwork approach and maintains open communication to ensure the best possible outcome for the customer.

Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in ensuring job site safety according to Beaver safety policies
  • Run ‘Pre-Job’, ‘Mid-Job’, and ‘Post-Job’ meetings
  • Communicate production goals clearly to field supervision
  • Manage multiple projects at one time
  • Develop and communicate project schedule
  • Ensure that subcontractor and supplier activities are monitored, completed appropriately, and understood by job site superintendents and foremen
  • Ensure that subcontracts and purchase orders are completed correctly with all pertinent information and submitted in a timely fashion
  • Provide mentorship to subcontractors to meet project goals and requirements
  • Communicate with owners and their representatives regarding budgets, schedules, and change management in a professional manner, ensuring a long-term relationship
  • Lead project reviews and problem resolution with owners, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Respond timely to customer needs without compromising safety, quality, or reputation
  • Coordinate project close‑out and ensure completion of proper documentation
  • Maintain project quality and conformance to drawings and specifications
  • Seek to meet project DBE, MBE, and EEO requirements
  • Inform customers of Beaver Companies’ abilities and areas of expertise
  • Maintain a vision of value engineering and actively pursue implementation within the project
  • Proactively look ahead to identify and avoid potential challenges
  • Maintain full awareness of all current project conditions and issues, including union, environment, geotechnical, government regulations and permits, material supply, subcontractors, and schedules
  • Marketing & New Work Development Responsibilities:
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships both publicly and professionally in and outside the workplace
  • Management & Development Responsibilities:
    • Weigh in on performance reviews for assigned personnel when necessary
  • Estimating & Bidding Responsibilities:
    • Accurately and efficiently bid projects
    • Develop pricing for RFPs, change orders, change authorizations, bulletins, etc.
    • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of how each project was bid and communicate efficiently with project superintendents
  • Cost Management Responsibilities:
    • Identify and manage project scope changes
    • Coordinate job set‑up, cost codes, and reporting of project costs
    • Manage project payment applications
    • Track quantities to update project revenues
    • Direct pre‑job planning, turnover, lessons learned, etc.
    • Manage project claims and change orders
    • Lead to address and solve issues that impact safety, job costs, production, quality, and profitability

Skills & Requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of industry practices and the impacts of project activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong leadership and complex problem‑solving skills related to customers, equipment, personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and governmental agencies
  • Competent use of MS Office and construction software
  • Demonstrate respect for coworkers and customers
Travel
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight as required by project needs
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent required; equivalent field experience will be considered
  • 5 years’ experience in the construction industry required
