This position supervises the operation of the phlebotomy team by supervising personnel and overseeing day-to-day workflow.

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

** 1. High school graduate or equivalent.

** 1. Three (3) years phlebotomy experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

** The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.  Other duties may be assigned.
1. Assists with selecting and hiring employees. Completes departmental training and orientation and assigns departmental staff. Supervises and evaluates the effectiveness of employees on an ongoing basis.
2. Schedules and adjusts staff to meet facility needs considering staff competency, established standards and regulatory requirements, including appropriate supervision, and wage and hour law.  3. Supervises the daily duties and outcomes of the phlebotomy staff.  
4. Assures phlebotomy duties are completed in a time efficient manner, prioritizes STAT orders, ASAP orders, scheduled orders and outpatients.  Prints, documents, and reviews pending Specimen Collection lists periodically throughout each workday.  
5. Provides input in the evaluation of the staff for promotions, salary adjustments, annual performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and termination’s based on documented performance within time frames established by the institution.  
6. Identify and addresses outreach quality issues observing for trends and resolving issues with appropriate documentation.
7. Ensures that the staff is properly trained for specimen type, proper receipt into the LIS, troubleshooting of missing samples and orders.  8. May coordinates health fairs, employee screens, and low cost blood screens offered by the hospital or the lab.  9. Performs the duties of a Phlebotomist as needed.

Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment weighing 40+lbs.  2. Ability to bend, stoop, reach and be capable of normal rotation, standing and walking for entire shift.
