Designs, develops, implements, supports and optimizes an architecture strategy to meet business capabilities and needs. This person ensures completeness of architecture by adequately addressing all the pertinent concerns of its stakeholders and enterprise. Ensures integrity of architecture by connecting various views of stakeholders and reconciling concerns. Considers practicality and fitness for purpose in determining architecture to develop. Leverages business and technology knowledge to enable and/or alter business processes, practices and systems.

Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and best in class trends and practices. May take on the role of project leader for special assignments.

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

**** EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
** 1. Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, computer science, business, informatics or related field
** AND
* * Eight (8) years’ experience performing system analysis with business, clinical or administrative applications required.
** OR
* * High school diploma or equivalent
** AND
* * Twelve (12) years’ experience performing system analysis with business, clinical or administrative applications required.
2. This position may require additional certification in support of the responsibilities of the position, which will be provided by WVUHS Information Technology. Certification completion will be required within four months of formal certification training completion.
3. Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in current position in order to qualify for promotion within IT.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participates in enterprise strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development.
2. Specifies and designs large or complex systems, solutions, or processes. Selects appropriate design standards, methods, and tools. Reviews others' system design to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technology. Establishes policy for selection of architecture components. Evaluates and undertakes impact analysis on major design options. Ensures that the system architecture balances functional, service quality, and systems management requirements.
3. Uses appropriate tools, including models of components and interfaces, to contribute to the development of architectures. Produces detailed component requirements and specifications and translates these into detailed solutions for implementation. Provides advice on technical aspects of system development, integration, and processes. Ensures that relevant technical and business strategies and policies are applied correctly.
