Travel Stepdown​/Med-Surg Registered Nurse

Position: Travel Stepdown/Med-Surg Registered Nurse - $2,211 per week

Unit 6 WEST - Neuro # of beds 20 beds (14 floor) Ratios: 1:5-6 for Floor patients" Required Certifications "BLS and NIHSS is required, ACLS is preferred NIHSS needs to be in hand at time of submission. (Added NIHSS Requirement onper Sara Reece request)

NOTE:

This unit does not have to be stepdown RN's" Common diagnoses/Types of patients Neurosciences, DBS (Deep Brain Stimulators), Stroke, Seizures, Surgical/Post Op Spines, Neurological Disorders Experience or 'Must have' skills: EPIC, Need to have overall strong Neuro experience. proficiency and frequency with G-tubes.. NIHSS in hand at time of submission. Recent Epic experience is required (added. MS) Are RNs required to titrate drips?

Titration is only done by physician's orders in a step-down setting. There may be some protocols that allow for titration, but they would educate on that. Common titratable &/or set rate drips Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, Insulin Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Charge Nurse 24/7 Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios "Yes - 3 per shift Ratios 1:7-10" RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc.)

RT is available

States they get "floor Vents" - RN's are not required to have vent experience. When there are floor vents they are usually on a set setting. These are managed by RT & physician. If they require changes they will go back to the ICU. Is there tele on this unit? Monitor techs? RNs read strips? There is tele on this unit - per notes from facility RN's do not have to read strips.

RNs document that they have verified monitor tech’s strip reading in Epic. They would allow 3 shifts in a row but this is not a guarantee. Travelers need to be flexible." Weekend Requirement:
Weekend day positions:
Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Weekend night positions:
Friday, Saturday, and Sundays OR Saturday, Sundays, and Mondays. Nights (weekdays): every other weekend or 3 weekend shifts per schedule (weekend shifts = Saturday and Sundays) Holiday Requirement Yes - travelers are expected to work into the holiday rotation Is there a call or standby requirement? Unknown Floating Requirement Possibly to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E first priority. Then offered to the rest of the hospital if needed.
