Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Night Shift Med/Surg-Ortho position with strong orthopedic and total joint replacement experience on a busy acute care unit.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute hospital setting on a 22-bed Med/Surg Orthopedics unit

• Care for orthopedic patients including joints, replacements, and fractures

• Patient ratios range from 1:5-6 with three CNAs per shift, though ratios can be 1:7-8 depending on shift

• Charting is done in EPIC EMR

• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with weekends required every other week or as scheduled

• Floating may occur to similar Med/Surg units within the facility

• Charges nurses are present 24/7 providing support

• Royal blue scrubs are required

• Responsibilities include specialized care and monitoring of orthopedic patients, with a focus on joint replacement and fracture management

• Unit does not require RNs to read telemetry strips

• Unit or department-specific orientation consists of 1-2 shifts

• Travelers are included in the holiday rotation

• No call or on-call responsibilities are specified

• Returning travelers must have a 2-year break before being eligible for consideration

• Travelers cannot work within the health system for longer than one year consecutively and must have a 2-year gap after that

• First-time travelers are not specified; please inquire for eligibility

• No local travelers are accepted, and all candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required in hand at the time of application

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a Med/Surg Orthopedics setting

• Must have specific experience caring for total joint replacement patients

• COVID-19 vaccination is required, but medical or religious exemptions will be considered

• Driver’s license address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
