American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Stepdown unit requiring telemetry strip reading skills and a WV or compact RN license.

• Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting on a 32-bed 7 West Stepdown/Med Surg unit (12 Stepdown, 20 Floor beds)
• Patient ratios of 1:3 in Stepdown and 1:4-6 on the Floor
• Typical Med Surg patient population including chest pain, COPD, AMS, pneumonia, UTI, abdominal pain, overflow cases, and hospice patients
• Unit utilizes titratable drips in Stepdown, with PCAs and heparin drips on the Floor
• Telemetry monitoring available with dedicated monitor techs; RNs must be able to read strips in conjunction with monitor techs
• Uses Epic EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7:30a)
• Requires working 2 weekends per schedule
• Holiday coverage required per facility staff schedule
• Floating required to any Floor or Stepdown unit
• Dedicated charge nurse and house supervisor support available

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience reading telemetry strips required

• Provide direct patient care for a general Med Surg and Stepdown population, including drip titration and telemetry monitoring in coordination with monitor techs
• Royal blue scrub color required per dress code
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 required, with medical or religious exemption forms available if needed
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the travel position
• Previous travelers at this facility must have a 2-year break before reapplying, and may not work cumulatively within the WVU system for longer than 1 year without a break
• Former permanent staff are not eligible to return as travelers at this facility
