American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Stepdown & EMU night shift position requiring NIHSS certification and strong stroke care experience.

• Acute care Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) with 31 total beds (25 stepdown, 6 EMU)
• Nurse:patient ratio of 1:3 on stepdown and 1:5-6 on the EMU floor
• Patient population includes higher acuity neuroscience cases such as strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and EMU patients
• Tele monitoring is present on the unit though RNs are not required to read strips
• RT-managed floor vents are available 24/7 with no vent experience required of RNs
• Titration is physician-ordered, with common drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
• Charge nurse coverage is available 24/7, with nurse aide support at a 1:8-9 ratio (4 aides per shift)
• Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts, 7p-7:30a, with possible 3 shifts in a row
• Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Floating possible to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W
• EPIC EMR experience required

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• BLS and NIHSS certification required (NIHSS must be in hand at time of consideration), ACLS preferred
• Strong overall neuroscience nursing experience required
• History of caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH Stroke Scale required
• Stepdown unit qualification required
• EPIC EMR experience required

• Provide care to higher acuity neuroscience stepdown and EMU patients including strokes, seizures, and craniotomy cases
• Holiday and weekend rotation required
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts on the unit
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with medical or religious exemption requests requiring formal approval
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be considered a traveler
• Previous perm staff or travelers with over 1 year worked at any WVU Medicine facility must have a 2-year break before reapplying
