Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 34-bed telemetry unit requiring 2+ years of experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• BLS and ACLS must be through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Skills needed include respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care), IV therapy, central and PICC line management, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, wound care, and isolation precautions

Responsibilities

• 34-bed medical-surgical unit with telemetry capabilities
• Patient ratios of 1:5-7
• Day shift schedule of 4x12 or 3x12 hours (7:00-19:00), including weekdays and weekends (3 per 4-week period)
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Care for medical-surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring, including pre/post cardiac cath and renal failure management
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-100 miles may be considered case-by-case at the same rate
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last date of employment before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
• Orientation is held every other Monday
• Facility expects minimal call-offs (2-3 per contract) due to prior attendance concerns
