Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Neuro Stepdown & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit)

Morgantown, WV | Acute Care

Contract | Nights | 3 × 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care in a 31-bed Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 (Stepdown) or 1:5–6 (EMU floor)
• Care for higher-acuity neuroscience patients including those with strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and EVDs, and implement NIH Stroke Scale assessments
• Administer and monitor set-rate and protocol-driven drips (e.g., Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, Insulin) per physician orders
• Collaborate with Respiratory Therapy and physicians in the management of patients on floor ventilators; RNs are not required to independently manage ventilators
• Monitor telemetry on the unit; strip reading is not required of RNs
• Participate in weekend rotation (every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule) and holiday rotation; flexibility for occasional floating to sister units may be required

• Active, unencumbered RN license (any license history issues must be disclosed at time of submission)
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification required and must be in hand at time of submission
• Strong, demonstrated Neuro experience with a history of caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH assessments
• EPIC EMR experience required
• COVID-19 vaccination required (fully vaccinated; medical or religious exemption requests must be submitted with appropriate documentation for approval)
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with External Ventricular Drains (EVDs)
• Prior experience in a Neuroscience Stepdown or Epilepsy Monitoring Unit setting

• Work within a specialized Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute Inpatient Stepdown Unit supported by a Charge Nurse available 24/7 and nurse aides on every shift
• Gain experience in a high-acuity neuroscience environment with access to Respiratory Therapy around the clock
