Purpose

The Electrician will join well service drilling projects as needed, performing various general electrical duties to assist Operations personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Provide preventive, routine and non-routine maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, machines, and related control boards.
  • Ensure reporting routines are followed and that equipment-related paperwork is maintained within area of responsibility (maintenance records, service/instruction manuals, procedures).
  • Be familiar with reporting routines regarding the EDP-based maintenance system on board.
  • Maintain stock of spare parts and consumables for equipment, verify stock levels, and report deficiencies with consideration for future maintenance requirements and delivery times.
  • Monitor the reliability of spare parts utilized.
  • Supervise disassembly, loading, unloading and assembly of shop and electrical devices and equipment.
  • Be familiar with all classification society and authorities’ rules and regulations applicable to area of responsibility.
  • Practice safety and use required protective equipment; follow all applicable work and safety procedures and promote implementation of same.
  • Before maintenance, ensure proper investigation, isolate equipment from the main switchboard, lock circuit breakers, post warnings, and obtain a signed work permit.
  • Instruct personnel on duties, responsibilities, and any safety precautions prior to start-up.
  • Promptly report accidents, near-misses, non-conformances and safety hazards to immediate supervisor.
  • Participate in safety meetings and drills on board.
  • Follow Emergency Preparedness Action Plan when needed.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in working areas.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear protection, steel-toed shoes, etc.).
  • Moving between locations, climbing ladders up to 10 feet or higher.
  • Visual acuity to monitor equipment operations (with or without corrective lenses).
  • Standing, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing or sitting for extended periods.
  • Repetitive movements of feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back.
  • Climbing vertical ladders and working at elevated heights.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs as required.
  • Adaptation to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours per week, including weekends as required.
Licenses or Certifications
  • WV Safety Sensitive Personnel Certification Preferred
  • PEC/Safeland Preferred
